Maggie Martin excelled on the soccer field and in the classroom at Cabot.

The Cabot graduate was her class valedictorian. She finished high school with a 4.49 GPA and had a 30 on the ACT. For college, Martin will attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and is planning to major in English and political science.

Martin was a four-year starter in soccer for the Lady Panthers. She played goalkeeper in her freshman, sophomore and senior years. As a junior, she played midfielder. Cabot played in the Class 7A state title game in 2016 and 2017.

During her final two seasons, Martin was a team captain.

Playing soccer was fun for Martin.

"I enjoyed being around some great girls," Martin said.

Martin played golf her freshman and sophomore years, but decided to not play her junior and senior years so she could focus more on academics.

The Lady Panther standouts calls herself a nerd at heart because of her love of reading and writing. Martin's favorite book is In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

"I was born with it," Martin said. "I've always thought of myself as a lifelong student. I would always be reading and writing something. I was influenced by my teachers."

Martin plans on becoming a teacher after she completes her education at Arkansas.
