CABOT TEAMS LEAD AFTER ONE ROUND OF ULTIMATE

Cabot teams lead after one round of Ultimate

The Cabot Panthers were the only team to place four golfers in the 70s, shooting 299 as a team to take an early lead after one round of the Ultimate Auto Group Invitational on Monday at Big Creek Golf & Country Club.

The second and final round of the tournament tees off at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The tournament features 104 boys and girls from 21 complete boys' and girls' teams.

The top five boys' teams in last year's tournament finished within 5 strokes of each other for the closest finish in the event's history. This year's tournament is up for grabs for at least three teams going into the final round.

Ten strokes behind Cabot is Catholic with a 309, while North Little Rock is third with a 310. Conway is a distant fourth with a 324.

Cabot's Carson Stephens shot a 2-under-par 70 to top the leaderboard, while Catholic's Davidson Dunkum is second with a 73. Also for Cabot, Jacob Knowlton shot a 74, Easton Denney added a 77, and Caleb Miller carded a 78.

Cabot holds a 30-stroke lead in the girls' standings after shooting a 238, and defending champ Greenwood is second at 268. Greenwood rallied past Mountain Home on the final day last season to win the tourney.

Mountain Home's Sydney Czanstkowski shot a 2-over-par 74 on the first day to begin her defense of her individual championship from last season. The senior is tied with Cabot's Holly Heslep for first place.

Madelyn Smith added a 96 for Mountain Home, while Ella Brashears rounded out the scoring with a 105 for the Lady Bombers' fourth-place, 275 team total. Reagan Hasselwander carded a 112, and Grace Hilvert shot a 128 for the Lady Bombers.

Weston Hoover shot a 77 to lead the Bombers, who are in seventh place going into the final round with a 335 team score.
